ABOUT CPHX - Copenhagen X facilitates and disseminates information on urban development, building projects, architectural visions and innovation in the Danish capital. We open people’s eyes to changes in the city. Copenhagen X conveys a digital presentation of the capital’s development at www.copenhagenx.dk and publishes an annual printed guide. Copenhagen X issues invitations to information and debate events, and its work cuts across demarcation lines and traditions. We create dialogue between professionals and laypeople. Copenhagen X organizes tours around the city, to give citizens and visitors an opportunity to get to know the capital’s new urban areas, marketplaces, squares, cultural institutions and housing and so on. Copenhagen X was set up in 2002 and will continue until 2012. Copenhagen X is a project under Danish Architecture Centre, supported by a partnership between Realdania - Foundation for the Built Environment, Frederiksberg Municipality and the City of Copenhagen.
BICYCLE ROUTES - See for yourself Copenhagen changing on your bike. Follow five bicycle routes to new districts and new architecture. For instance, you can start out at Danish Architecture Centre and ride by Tietgenkollegiet, the IT University, DR Byen and further on to Amager Beach. See also the new Playhouse on your way to ‘Fyrtårnet’ at Amerika Plads or the new squares at Frederiksberg.
GUIDEBOOK - Experience the city on your own and get an overview of the new urban areas in progress in the guidebook ‘New architecture in Copenhagen’ The guidebook contains descriptions of new projects and key maps that make it easy to find your way around in the city. The City guide costs Dkr 85. Buy it in book shops, the tourist information and in Danish Architecture Centre.
PODWALK - Experience the city on your own with a podwalk – a guided tour on a sound file downloaded to your mp3 player – told by architects, residents, mayors and other voices of the city. We are offering two podwalks in English. One podwalk at the harbour front with former American ambassador to Denmark Richard Swett as the guide. And one podwalk which introduce you to the new architecture along the Metro in Copenhagen.
